Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Season Pass 5 to play Version 2.00?
No. Version 2.00 is a free update for all base-game owners and includes Counter Blitz, ranked changes, UI refresh, and balance patch battle version 5.00. Jam Kuradoberi and the Cradled by the Four Beasts stage require Season Pass 5 or individual DLC purchase.
What replaced Wild Assault in Guilty Gear Strive?
Wild Assault was removed in Version 2.00 and replaced by Counter Blitz — a follow-up attack you can trigger during counter-hit slow motion by pressing forward + Dust. It costs Psych Burst gauge and rewards precise counter-hit play. Read our [Counter Blitz guide](/mechanics/counter-blitz/) for full details.
When does Robo-Ky release?
Robo-Ky is the second Season Pass 5 character, scheduled for Summer 2026. Jam Kuradoberi launched April 9, 2026 alongside Version 2.00. Two additional fighters are planned for Winter 2026 and Spring 2027.
Is Guilty Gear Strive good for beginners in 2026?
Yes. Mission Mode teaches fundamentals, Training Mode supports recording and combo recipes, and the [getting started guide](/guides/getting-started/) walks through a sensible first two weeks. Version 2.00 also refreshed menus and onboarding flow.
What is the highest ranked tier after Version 2.00?
Imperius is the new top title for the highest-ranked players (top 100 in the global leaderboard). Below that, Vanquisher now has sub-levels — Ignis, Virtus, and Vindex — so progression feels more granular than the old single Vanquisher badge.
What is Blazing Pass?
Blazing Pass is Season 5's battle pass track, offering cosmetic rewards, titles, and profile items as you complete weekly and seasonal challenges. It is separate from Season Pass 5, which sells playable characters. See [Blazing Pass details](/updates/blazing-pass/).
How do Roman Cancels work in Strive?
Roman Cancels spend tension to cancel almost any attack animation into movement, another attack, or invulnerable recovery. Colors indicate timing: Red (startup), Yellow (active frames), Purple (recovery), and Blue (while blocking or idle). Our [Roman Cancel guide](/guides/roman-cancel/) covers each type with practice drills.
Where can I find frame data for my character?
Use the wiki [frame data tool](/tools/frame-data/) for searchable startup and on-block values, and cross-check with in-game command lists. After balance patches, always confirm critical numbers in Training Mode with the virtual input display enabled.
What battle version is Season 5?
Season 5 competitive play uses battle version 5.00, shipped with Version 2.00 on April 9, 2026. Tournament and ranked lobbies display the active version — older replays may not reflect Counter Blitz or current move changes.
Can I play cross-platform online?
Guilty Gear Strive supports cross-play between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC (Steam/Windows). Enable cross-play in system settings and choose the same region for best matchmaking latency in [online ranked](/modes/online-ranked/).
