Input Notation Reference

Why Numpad Notation

Community guides universally describe directions using numpad layout — independent of whether you use keyboard, pad, or stick. Learning notation lets you read combos from any source without platform-specific arrow diagrams.

The interactive tool below visualizes directions 1–9 and maps attack buttons P/K/S/H/D to Strive defaults.

Common Input Patterns

Quarter circle forward (236) + button for many fireball-style specials. Dragon punch (623) for invincible reversals on many characters. Half circle (41236) for supers on some fighters. Charge 46 or 28 holds appear on select cast members.

  • 236 — quarter circle forward
  • 623 — dragon punch motion
  • 214 — quarter circle back
  • 41236 — half circle back
  • 63214 — half circle forward (throws)
